Sweat With Your Sole 5K Race Recap

A race I look forward to every year, Black Girls Run Sweat With Your Sole 5K/15K, always leaves me feeling refreshed and energized as we enter into fall training season. The race is in it's third year celebrating women who have made fitness and healthy living a priority, a Black Girl's Run mission. Men, children and anyone willing to put one foot in front of the other are encouraged to participate in the race. As a 4 year member, I am proud to have ran the first and third year in Atlanta with the second being a virtual run and be a part of such a refreshing running group.

This year I missed out on the full experience and was not able to attend the conference, but registered for the race. Packet picket at the expo was a breeze! Vendors where there to offer various running items such as nutrition, hair care, bondi bands and the like along with the Black Girls Run store. I even snagged a cute tank and met a couple of ladies from various states while shopping. The empowerment and fellowship is truly amazing and the expo is just a glimpse of the weekend vibe! While picking up my bib with my mom, we caught a glimpse of KTX Fitness Keith Thompson and class rocking the bikes.

This year's course started and ended at Centennial Olympic Park with a refreshing route throughout Atlanta including a slight incline or two. If you have never experienced the "Kill the Hill" mantra, you are truly missing out! Participants help each other to the finish and no woman is left behind. The water stations and volunteers along the route shouted encouraging words as we made our way through the course.

Registered for the 5K, I thought I would bring along my GoPro Hero 3 my husband surprised me with for running. This was the perfect race to try it out! Here are a couple of shots without any mount. I couldn't decide on the chesty or wrist mount and since we Preserve the Sexy with Black Girls Run at this race the head mount was not it (lol) so I decided to hold it. It's lightweight, fits right in the palm of my hand and the angle and width it captures is amazing!

My running buddy and I at the finish! We Preserved the Sexy!!

My beautiful medal will go on display in our family hall of fame at home! You can see the spirit of the race in the background! High Fives to all the ladies that got out of bed and crossed the finished line today!

Check out the videos where I tested my GoPro Hero3, A mount is definitely needed or it will result in shaky videos. Next time maybe I can fashion one cute enough to wear (lol)

Fun-filled, empowering and refreshing this is a race you do not want to miss! I know I won't! Hope to see you in 2015!
